Fueled by coffee and obsessed with reading (seriously.), I'm a stay-at-home mom to the cutest little (diva) princess you've ever seen and wife to a goofball who swears pilots have the highest IQs of any profession (hmm...), but that's not what you're here to know. You're curious about why in the world I decided to start a crafty business and what in the world does Les Petits Boutons (LPB) mean?

I come from a magical country called Brazil, where sun, steak, soccer, samba and s...coffee rule (what? I had an awesome string of alliterations going there!).
My parents, sister, and I moved to the good ol' US of A when I was a little kid, but we still went back to visit family pretty much every year. Aside from family, friends, and food (sorry, today's just an alliteration day and there's nothing I can do to help it), one of my favorite things to do during those visits was to go to what we affectionately call the "Hippie Fair," which is part handmade jewelry and other random stuff by hippies and part handmade goods by non-hippie folk. Either way, it was all handmade and magical. I was always in awe of what incredible, creative things these talented people could create and wished there were bigger handmade markets in the US (ah, the pre-Etsy days).

As a child I also had a weird, random fear of sewing machines. It wasn't a phobia or anything that serious, but I kept my distance in case I turned into a modern day sleeping beauty by having the ridiculously fast moving needle slice my finger. Now that I am a mature adult (hah!), I have decided to overcome my fears by learning how to sew while making my own creations! And it just so happens that I love it!

Never one to take the easy road, I couldn't only learn how to sew for myself. Nope, I had to go and open up my own Etsy store. I also couldn't start with simple projects to ease into a new, developing skill... nope. Oh, and what does Les Petits Boutons mean? It's french for 'The Little Buttons' - Here's hoping you find my crafts to be as cute as a button ;)
